Update: Bennett was in a home for over a year. The owner got a promotion that involves traveling. So he needs another home. He's great with kids and other dogs. This is Bennett's story:
Bennett fell on some hard times. He was in an abusive home where he was thrown into a confined space with a vicious dog. His ears were chopped on and shredded. Thankfully neighbors heard the ruckous and called the police. Soon afterwards, the lady moved out of the house and abandoned the basset and a rat terrier in the back yard with no shelter, no food, and no water. They were living in their own feces. The conditions were horrendous. Again the neighbors found out and called the police. The dogs were taken in by animal control. The authorities found the owner and she was arrested with charges pending. A volunteer at animal control called us and we went to get the basset.
Despite what he's been through he's a friendly, loving pup who deserves better. We changed his name to Bennett which means Blessed One. And get this: The volunteer who rescued him and called us, her son's name is Bennett! It was meant to be! I had goose bumps when she told me that.
He's at the vet getting all the treatment that he needs. He deserves a home where he will be loved for the rest of his life and not be put into any more danger. Are you the one to make his dreams come true?
